Archive for July, 2013

Just thought I’d offer an update on my “to-do list” exploits. Sadly I’ve been a bit down for the count, lately, due to some as of yet unexplained medical issues. Nothing serious just, irritating.

Despite having what feels like ample free time, since I haven’t been feeling well, I haven’t been able to get much of anything finished. My ability to concentrate and work with my hands has been…limited. Hoping it clears up soon. I have some messages to respond to, spacescapes to make, fractals to create, drawings to complete, a whole slew of other completely awesome artsy and crafty ideas to put into motion that I’ve thought of over the past couple of weeks, AND some patterns to distribute! :)

One of the first things I want to finish once I’m feeling better is “the Day of the Octopuses.” I just realized, though, that every time I plan ahead when it comes to amigurumi, I run into more troubles than if I just wing it from the start. Hopefully I haven’t jinxed my next free pattern by planning it too much! I’m really hoping it comes out as cute as it looks in my head :)

Although, to be honest, my head is so crammed with things I like to do, who knows what’ll happen. I might just explode creativity one of these days…I could be a walking time bomb and not even know it…

An Extended Family

More garden-themed photos, as promised. Well, I pretty much just promised myself. But if you can’t keep your own word to yourself then I think you’re pretty much hopeless. Of course that’s besides the point. And I do have one. A point, I mean. Well, it’s not really a point, per se. Actually, it’s really more rounded, not very point-like at all. Too bad, too. If it weren’t so round maybe it wouldn’t have gotten away from me so easily…

So this flower-photographing has really become a habit of mine. These photos represent my little excursions from the past two days. For the most part I quite like these particular pictures. I can’t help but feel like something is lacking, though. There’s a little voice that says to me. “if they’re all good that means none of them are; they could be so much better than this.” This little voice crops up a lot in my life, I’ve noticed. I think it’s about time I silence it and just enjoy what I enjoy.

To-Do List

Whenever I make a new post I tend to scroll down the front face of my blog, glancing at past posts, widgets, the site setup in action, all that stuff. This is pretty much pure vanity, of course. But I’m cool with that. When I posted my “Beautiful Lie” photo set the other day, as I was performing my habitual blog-scroll, I happened to glance at the calendar feature I’ve got over there. I really have no right to be so stunned, but coming to the realization that we were already more than a week into the month of July felt a bit like witnessing a distant explosion (but with a little bit less horror than that situation would incur, I think). I just kind of stared at the calendar, wide-eyed, unmoving, trying to process what I saw. Honestly, I had a holy-hannah-we’re-already-in-July-how-did-I-not-notice-this-before kind of moment.

Anyway, because there are so many great things I want to accomplish, this whole little episode has spurred me to create a to-do list:

Summer 2013 to do list

Admittedly, this was kind of just for fun, but it does serve as a legitimate reminder of the projects I’ve got loosely planned. Some things, if I don’t write it down, I will forget. (Speaking of which, I mentioned a dinosaur amigurumi a little while back. I am happy to announce that two dinosaurs have been completed, one pink and one green! I won’t be posting the pattern though, as, although the pattern is uniquely mine, the actual design rights belong to someone else. Out of respect for them I will not post pictures without their approval.)

Not everything is on this list, but it’s a start. It’s also not really in any kind of order. Tonight, though, I do hope to start setting up for my “the Day of the Octopuses” amigurumi pattern and story post. I am a terrible procrastinator though. This will undoubtedly come around to haunt me at some point…

Anyway. Octopuses later, that is my plan.  And tomorrow I hope to make another photo set post. I think my friends are getting tired of constantly seeing my flower-themed pictures, but I can’t seem to help myself. And actually, I’m not gonna even try.

a Beautiful Lie

Another flower-themed photo post here. This seems to be turning into a habit. But I suppose it’s not so bad :)

I took these photos early last week. I love the sunshine, the bright blue sky, and the vivid colors of summertime. But today is one of the many dark, rainy, thundery days that’ve plagued my fleeting summer. So I thought if I posted some of the brightness from a few days ago, it’d carry me through this dark day.

Love, imagine, create, scrap, live.
